Impact of KVK
During Last Five Years 2012-17
- New crop groundnut promoted in sandy loam soil of Buxar district. Farmers of Dumraon, Simri and Chakkiblock growing groundnut for own consumption and market.
- Oil seed crop sesamum introduced in Buxar district and it is adopted by the farmers of Itahari, Dumraon and Simri blocks during summer and rainy seasons.
- Pigeon pea variety Narendra Arhar-1 and Narendra Arhar-2 were promoted among farmers and it covered 70% of the pigeon pea growing area.
- Seed treatment with rhizobium, use of PSB, INM and IPM technology in pigeon pea were promoted and 56% farmers adopting the promoted technology of KVK, Buxar.
- Black gram crop was promoted for cultivation during spring-summer season after harvesting of potato and becomes very popular. Seed treatment with rhizobium culture and use of PSB were also promoted by KVK and 40% farmers adopting seed treatment and use of PSB.
- Resource conservation technology (ZT sowing) was promoted in lentil, chickpea and mustard. ZT sowing of lentil adopted by 18% farmers, 12%in chickpea and 22% in mustard.
- Drought tolerant variety of rice viz. Naveen, SushkSamrat, SahbhagiDhan and Abhishek, SwarnaShreya, SabourArdhjal were promoted in the district and large number of farmers adopting the Naveen, SuskhSamrat and Sahbhagidhan.
- Use of PSB in wheat was promoted by KVK and large number of farmers using the PSB culture at the time of sowing.
- Application of herbicides in wheat, rice, lentil, chickpea and mustard were promoted in the district. In rice and wheat 100% farmer’s using herbicides for controlling the weeds, in lentil, chickpea 40% farmers using pre-emergence herbicides and 50% using post emergence. In case of mustard 10% farmers using pre-emergence herbicides and 30% using post-emergence herbicides for managing the weeds.
- Cowpea variety KashKanchan and Swarnaharit were promoted and 40% area covered by KashiKanchan.
- Use of Pheromone trap in chickpea was promoted and adopted by 15% of farmers.
- Mushroom cultivation was promoted by KVK and develops the master trainer for promotion of mushroom cultivation. A total number of 125 mushroom growers in the district. One mushroom spawn production unit has also established in the district for promotion of mushroom.
- Bee keeping was promoted by KVK and more than 100 bee keepers in the district. KVK also develop the master trainer for promotion of bee keeping.
- Conserving the rain water in the rice field raising bund height was promoted by the KVK and 20% of rice growers adopting this technology.
- Application of sulphur in oilseed crop was promoted by KVK and 45% farmers adopting application of sulphur as basal and 10% as foliar spray.
- Enhancing the rice productivity high yield varieties and hybrid rice were promoted in Buxar district. Potato growers of Dumraon, Simri and Chakki blocks are adopting hybrid rice in 30% area of rice cultivation.
- Enhancing the productivity of Bajra, KVK, Buxar promote the hybrid bajra with balanced nutrient management and application of azotobactor. Hybrid bajra adopted in 800 ha area in Buxar district with the productivity of 14.8 q/ha.
- Backyard poultry promoted by KVK, Buxar and demonstrated in 130 farmers. Successful adoption of some farmers other neighbors are also adopting.
- Composite fish culture promoted and now day’s 700 fish pond running with production of 3500 ton per year in Buxar district.
- Bio pesticides promoted by KVK, namely Trichoderma, neem oil, Bt, NPV and farmers using for protection of disease and insect-pest.
- Papaya cultivation become very popular in Buxar district and adopted in 530 acre area.
- Integrated farming system promoted by KVK, Buxar and 11 IFS models running in Buxar district.
