ICAR KVK Buxar was established in 20.03.2007 under the administrative control of ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna IN. Buxar is well known for the historical event “Battle of Buxar” (22nd October, 1764) .

Bringing desirable behavioral changes associated with awareness,knowledge, skill and attitude among the farmers and other stakeholders fortechnology-led growth in farming and allied enterprises.
Mandate
The mandate of KVK is application of technology/products throughassessment, refinement and demonstration for adoption.To implement the mandate effectively, the following activities are envisagedfor each KVK :
a) On-farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologiesunder various farming systems.
b) Frontline demonstrations to establish production potentials of technologies onthe farmers’ fields.
c) Training of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge andskills in modern agricultural technologies.
d) Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technologies forsupporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving theagricultural economy of the district.
e) Provide farm advisories to farmers on marketing of agricultural produce.
f) Identify, document and validate selected farm innovations.
g) Select suitable ICT for reaching the unreached.
h) Produce and make available technological products like seed, plantingmaterial, bio agents, young ones of livestock etc to the farmers as per theirresources.
i) Organize extension activities to create awareness about improved agriculturaltechnologies.
In addition, KVKs would also implement sponsored schemes/programmeswhichare within the mandate of KVK.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has established Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) at grass root level for the cause of farming community in the country. The KVKs have grown as a largest network and established with total number of 713 in the country. Our KVK Buxar was established in the year 2007 to support technological backstopping to the farming community and other stakeholders in the district.

Mr. AshutoshPanday grows different vegetables around the year. He produces potato, beans, capsicum, cowpea and coriander for off season. Along with these vegetables he started strawberry cultivation for the first time in Buxar district started in 2016 in an area of 0.25 ha because of last year good income (Rs ) and area increased to 0.4 ha in 2017. He harvested 5 tonnes/acre strawberry fruits and sold it at the rate Rs 100 to 200/kg on the basis of market and demand in local as well as Patna market. He got net income from strawberry cultivation of Rs 320,000 per acre.
Enhanced the income by 320 times as compare to previous. He also produces potato and green beans in broad bed and in each bed two row of potato and green bean seed were planted. He obtained 140 q/acre potato yield and green beans yield 50-55 q/acre as well as coriander in an area of 500 m2 produced for the month of August and September and he earn Rs. 50000. He also grows vegetable cowpea in spring season in an area of 2 acre and harvested 60 q/acre yield of green pod. This diversification with vegetables he earn an income above Rs 8 lakh/annum.
